Three Design Masters Combine Forces
The Ritz-Carlton Residences, South Beach — The hands behind the house
An architect of curves, a studio of curated materials, a garden practice of the dunes and a Michelin-starred chef.
Kobi Karp · Naturalficial
Drawn from the shore it stands on
Kobi Karp Architecture & Interior Design, a studio long at work in Miami, drew from the site itself: the corner where Lincoln Road reaches the ocean, and the curves Morris Lapidus left on the same block. Its terraces of curved glass turn each house toward the water.
Naturalficial, the Miami landscape practice led by its founding principal, Andres Arcila, plants the gardens and the sculpture garden that lead from the tower toward the beach. Above them all, the rooftop pool runs out to its edge and the city turns gold at sunset.
Glass that bends toward the water, gardens that lead to the sand.
Studio Munge · José Andrés
Rooms composed, a table set
Studio Munge was founded in Toronto and keeps teams there and in Miami. For these residences, Alessandro Munge chose few materials and gave each one a room to itself: veined marble at the island, oak warmed to the color of honey, glass fluted and lit from behind.
The kitchens are made for the table that José Andrés brings home. The Michelin-starred chef behind Zaytinya and the Lapidus Bar next door provides in-residence dining and catering: a dinner for two, or a party on the terrace, served at home.
